Cattle Breeders’ annual highlight

‘Breeding Healthy Food in a Hungry World’ is the title and theme of the annual British Cattle Conference, 2014, to be held in Telford, Shropshire on 20-22 January 2014. The packed programme for the two-and-a-half day event begins with a beef workshop on the Monday afternoon. Tuesday’s programme focuses on beef, with a parallel dairy workshop held in the afternoon, while Wednesday is ‘dairy day.’

“Our 2014 Conference theme reflects the challenges faced by cattle breeders of today and we have a wide range of speakers, including internationally-renowned geneticists, breeding specialists and nutritionists,” says this year’s BCBC chairman, dairy farmer Neil Darwent. “We also have a number of forward-thinking dairy and beef producers, who will outline how their businesses are run and present their views on how they see the future.

“There will be plenty of time for delegates to network at the Conference and catch up with other breeders, scientists and industry representatives. While there is no requirement to join the BCBC to attend, members are eligible for a discounted attendance fee. We hope that you will join us.”

As ever, leaders in the field will highlight the changing demands and new influences for milk and meat throughout the conference. They will provide an insight into how the British cattle breeding industry is preparing to rise to the challenge of delivering a healthy diet to a growing global population.

Places for the conference can be booked online at www.cattlebreeders.org.uk or contact the Secretary:lesley.lewin@cattlebreeders.org.uk or telephone +44 (0)1409 241579.
