With its first show in 1886, La Rural is the annual exhibition hosted by Argentina’s Rural Society in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires. The event runs 19-30 July. This year marks the 200th Anniversary of the arrival of Tarquin, a Shorthorn bull that came to Argentina from Scotland and started the transformation of the Argentinian beef industry to achieve its now global reputation. Attending will be Tim Riley, Shorthorn Society President, together with Richard Saunders representing the British Livestock Genetics Consortium. E: richardsaunders1965@yahoo.co.uk
